Hello team,

i have a huge team of surveyors in the US and measure and draw secure
buildings across the US - all of our team members use PTGui, recently
the batch builder stopped working when batch processing multiple mov
files.

We understand that QTVR format is a dying format and want to switch to
SWF. currently we object link the mov files to the PDF survey document
we can do the same thing with SWF files but cannot find a way of Batch
Building multiple SWF files. Each building survey consists of between
50 and 100 3DVR shots - is there any way of batch stitching or batch
building SWF files as opposed to the dying mov format.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried using pano2vr for this?

works really well.

we typically take 12 shots per location and then stitch - have you
tried batch stitching the 12 shots in pano2vr as with batch builder? -
i will download pano2vr and give it a shot

you do everything as you would in ptgui using the batch stitch. just save out an equirectangular jpgs.

then you can use pano2vr to convert all the jpgs to swf files.

I'm not sure if all this can be done on the latest ptgui since I'm still on version 8.

You would need to create your panoramas as a 360x180 degree
equirectangular file. The resulting panorama can then be converted in
batch to the desired format.

In PTGui you can do a batch conversion from the equirectangular file to
QTVR. Or using the Publish To Web to a combined Flash/HTML5/WebGL
format. Note that the latter does not create a self contained swf file,
but a viewer and separate images.

I think Pano2VR can batch convert the equirectangular files to self
contained .swf files.

i will test this out his week, should the 360x180 degree
equirectangular file be output as a jpeg?

I have been doing a large full campus tour for a local college and we
used this method.

1. Use Ptgui to output a equirectangular. (We did Jpg, but Pano2VR can
take Tiffs if you want. Our Jpgs were 6000x3000 100% quality.

2. Pano2Vr turns them into swfs quicky. You can even have it insert a
little navigation bar if you wish.

Our particular workflow was cubes because we used fpp do to needing
additional polish and capability

With Pano2VR it is also possible to batch convert your existing QTVR
movs to Flash panos without any loss of quality as long as the size of
the flash tiles is set to match the cube faces of the movs.
Pano2VR will then use the cube faces inside the movs and place them
unmodified, so exactly as they are, in the .swf flash wrapper.

The other way around, using a flash pano and then convert it into QTVR
mov is much harder to do....

Success,
Wim

That's good to know. How would I find out what tile sizes I used in the various QTVR mov files I've made over the years? Is there a way to inspect what is inside the mov wrapper?

This question is related to Pano2VR so I will keep it short...

There is a workaround for this.
Set the size of the flash tiles to 0 (zero) and save this setting as
default or make a droplet from the project.
Now when you drop a mov on the Pano2VR app icon (dock) or on the
droplet the magic will happen.

Success,
