Hey,

The below settings work for relative pathing work for Ptgui 12, but not for Ptgui 13 beta 6.

CleanShot 2024-05-14 at 11.26.44@2x.png

No matter what I enter for the project file location, it always ends up next to the source image folder. I have validated that there are enough parent folders also.

Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Conrad,

I couldn't find any differences between v12 and v13 regarding this.

It works for me when I put this in a template and use the batch builder.
The folder ..\..\..\projects is created and the new project is saved there.

It doesn't work when doing File - Save. The 'Save As' dialog pops up; it
will navigate to the configured folder if it exists, but it will not
create the folder. This might be good to add, but the current behavior
is consistent with PTGui 12.

Is this also what you are seeing?

Hi Joost,

Thanks for testing, the fact that you're not experiencing the issue was an indicator to me that it might be something in my specific process.

I discovered the cause is when using a template created initially using PTGui v12. Even if you save it as a new template in PTGui v13, the relative pathing seems not to work.

Steps to replicate should be:
  1. Open PTGui 13
  2. Apply a PTGui 12 template
  3. Ensure the relative paths are as expected
  4. Save as template
  5. Open batch builder and use the new template to stitch
Expected Outcome: Output files should end up in the same location as version 12.
Actual Outcome: project file is created one folder up from the image files. Output panorama file is then interpreted (correctly) relatively from this location.

Work Arounds: I will have to recreate my base template from scratch in PTGui 13 (not a big deal for me).

Hopefully you're able to replicate the issue using this approach.

Hi Joost,

I'm still running into this issue in my pipeline. I have noticed that even though I re-built my templates from scratch in PTGui 13, once I save them, the relative pathing stops working.

Have you had anyone else report similar issues?

Hi Conrad,

I thought it was fixed, I haven't heard about the problem anymore.

Did you recreate the template in PTGui 13 beta 8?

It would be helpful if you could create a couple of screenshots showing
your workflow, and send me your template project and the resulting batch
builder generated project. This should allow me to reproduce the issue.

Sorry for the delay!

I spent several hours trying to trouble shoot and fix the issue the other day and now that I try testing again and took screenshots, I'm unable to reproduce the error.

I've got a few batches of HDRIs to process however, so I will keep a close eye on this and see if I can find the reason and report back.

Actually this was an issue in the earlier betas, it's supposed to be
fixed in the current version. You might have been looking at project
files or templates generated in the earlier version, which have the
wrong output path recorded in the project file.

Thanks for trying to reproduce this!

Hey Joost,

I think i've found the issue.

When I have the PTGui project set to <prefix first image folder name>  and do a render, the project file is saved in the wrong place. The output file is saved relative to the project so I don't believe there's an issue there.
If i change the project setting to <prefix first image file name> the project file is saved in the correct place.
Interestingly, this behaviour occurs even when the project file is open (not using the batch editor).

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open new project
  2. Add some images
  3. Apply template (attached)
  4. Render file and note the location it is exported to
  5. Change project setting as per above
  6. render again and note the new location.

As I understand it, the project filename should change but the path should be the same; interpreted from the source image folder)

Thanks for your help!

Yes indeed, I can confirm the issue. It will be fixed in the next beta.
Thanks for chasing this!
