ICC Input Profiles no longer working in PTGui 13?

Why does PTGui 13 seem to force us to convert images to an RGB working space?

We are stitching large RGB Repro Scans from an Anagramm Scan-Back.
All Images are tagged with their orig. Input Profiles from the Scan.
PTGui 10 accepted our Input Profiles and also embedded these Input Profiles in the stitched output file. That was perfect behaviour because it leaves all conversions to RGB working spaces to image editing.

PTGui 13 forces us to convert to an RGB working space within PTGui and won't accept input spaces at all. In my opinion that's an unnessecary step backward.

Please reintroduce at least an option in to keep files unconverted in whichever ICC Profile the user wants.

Thanks, Silvia

Hi Silvia,

PTGui 10 was not color managed. PTGui 12 and 13 are fully color managed;
this means that they need to convert from a source color space into a
working color space and then into a target color space.

If your color profile specifies a way to convert back from target to
source, then PTGui can use it for the output. If the profile only
specifies a one-way transform, then it can only be used in one
direction. Unfortunately there's no way around that in PTGui 12+.

Sampled LUT color spaces (which I assume you are using) are highly
nonlinear near the blacks. As an engineer I'd say these are not good to
use as working color spaces. Instead of sticking to the pecularities of
a certain sensor in the whole pipeline. Why not use a linear or gamma
color space? If the output color space has a wide enough gamut and
sufficient bits per pixel, it will not affect the colors.

Kind regards,

Hi Joost,
thanks for explaining.
The Input Profiles are only one way, unfortunately.

Feature request: Please give us an option to go without any color management (like in Photoshop, or back in PTGui 10)

The reason why we really need this option are production workflows like ours in high end reproduction of artworks for Museums etc. that require to archive the stitched image in its original (unconverted) state, tagged with an input profile. Because for each scan we create a whole array of different input profiles which can later be assigned as an optimal basis for specific purposes. The Museums also get the scanned Profiling-Target Image. So they'd retain the possibility to create and assign new Input Profiles (f.e. in case of future technical advances in profiling software) All that of course has to be going on prior to conversion into any working space.

Conversion kills our workflow.

Thank you,
Silvia
