Hi there,

I have Kandao Obsidian R footage that I am trying to stitch using PTGUI through Mistika VR.  I didn't collect the footage myself, I just have the six video files.  I have only downloaded the trial version of PTGUI for now as I just wanted to test the process and see if I achieved a better stitch than just running through Mistika, before purchasing if it works well.  When I go through the "External stitch" option in Mistika, to drop out into PTGUI, I am immediately faced with the camera sensor size dialogue as PTGUI doesn't recognize the files as being from Kandao Obsidian R.  I've tried numerous iterations of preset selections, and even hard entering values myself, but I can't seem to get it to play nicely.  Are you guys able to provide me with the appropriate selections I need to enter for PTGUI to assume it's Obsidian R footage?  Or is this an issue because it's the trial version? I've spent an extraordinary amount of time adding hundreds of control points when I *thought* I had the correct lens settings entered, only for the Optimizer to give me massive distances (1,500 to 2,000 pixels!).  I know this camera has large parallax, but even when I choose two camera that are obviously a reasonable distance to the subject, it's never less than 1,000 pixels for the same point.  Something seems wrong in the camera\lens settings and I can't eem to get it right manually.  Any help would be hugely appreciated.  Thank you!

Hi Mark,

Actually PTGui has a lens profile for the Obsidan R, it gets applied
automatically if there's metadata.

I assume Mistika exports without metadata, you can choose these settings:

In the 'camera sensor size' popup window, choose Crop Factor: 5.8x
In the 'focal length' popup window, choose 2.2mm. A dropdown will
appear, from which you can choose the Obsidian R.

In the Crop tab, verify that the cropping circle is set correctly.

The camera has large parallax, especially indoors the results will be
bad. But if you get 1000 pixels error there's something wrong.

If you need help, just make a set of images available and I'd be happy
to try.

Kind regards,

Joost Nieuwenhuijse
