I know 'nobody' uses PTStitcher anymore, but I know a nobody (actually a high school student) who wants to.  She hopes to build a stitching application, I think for a camera array, that will basically use the same alignment for every job.  At first she tried to build an app on top of libpano13, but we (Dan German and I) persuaded her that scripting ptmender was a more practical approach.

So now she is trying to generate the PT script with PTGui, and has found that it does not work: all she gets from ptmender is separate layer files but no blended panorama.  I have confirmed the same behavior with the original PTStitcher as well.  I'm not a good enough PT script jock to see what is wrong, but maybe someone here can.  Then maybe Joost will fix it, or else remove the PanoTools options altogether (because _nobody_ uses PTStitcher anymore).

Here's an example script

I just tried with an arbitrary panorama I had in the Recent Project list
and it worked perfectly. My script looks much like yours:

I used original PTStitcher with "Panorama Tools" blender from inside
PTGui. The same project with PTStitcher and smartblend gives a very
nicely blended panorama ;-) The only difference is, that PTGui correctly
uses n"TIFF_m" instead of n"TIFF" in the p line in order to create
single images which then are passed to smartblend. With n"TIFF" option
PTStitcher does the blending...

Thanks Erik

Your script does look very like mine; the only difference is that you get a blended panorama and I do not :-|.
I'm running PTGuil Pro 9.1.5 on WinVista32 SP2, AMD PhenomIIx4, what is your configuration?

If I copy the script to script.txt and run 'PTStitcher -o pano script.txt' from the command shell, I get a blended pano.  So maybe my PTGui is not passing the output file name right.

But ptmender gives me only layers no matter how I run it.

Regards, Tom

It's a long time since I tried PTMender but as I recall, it was not
designed to do blending - just remapping. Blending was intended to
be performed by other programs, such as Enblend and Smartblend. In
the Hugin forum,I did see mention of "flattening" being reintroduced,
but that would be very crude blending with no feathering.

I tested with both 9.1.4 and 9.1.5 on Win 7 x64. Since a 32 bit version
isn't automatically installed anymore it got difficult to try the 32 bit
version.

I managed to install the 32 bit version on XP mode - works flawlessly,
too. Did you check the PTViewer version that is called from PTGui is the
same like the one called from command line?

Thanks Erik
I think the versions of ptmender and ptstitcher I was running may be at fault.  I believe they came with Hugin and are perhaps 'new improved' ones built on libpano13.  Anyhow, the 2007 builds (against libpano12) distributed by Max Lyons both produce blended panos when run from PTGui 9.1.5.
