Not sure what this is about - tried to import some images taken with my mobile phone.
1633258682125.jpg
I have attached one of the offending ones. Tried several versions 12.7, 12.6, 12.1 and 11.28 all fail - it works fine in 11.20 and 10.0.17 - if that's of any help.

I have imported photos from the mobile (Xiaomi Mi10) before and tried just it again and it works fine for 4x3 photos.
These photos were taken in 1:1 format and that seems to cause the problem (wrong Exif Info??) - if I right click the image file in windows - go to properties, details and choose (at the bottom) "Remove Properties and Personal Information)" and remove all info I can actually import the file.

Nothing really important I guess but I think wrong/inconsistent/... Exif info should probably not cause an Assertion failed error.

Cheers.

Alas, Google strips out exif data from your sample file.  Can you  please use a dedicated file sharing service such as Dropbox, Google Drive or sendspace.com to upload the file with its exif data intact and provide a download link here?

I did a lossless crop to 4:3 aspect ratio and the error persists. The
only strange EXIF info I could find so far is the GPS info, which is
present but undefined. However, changing it to defined values didn't
remove the error either. So Joost must investigate...

Thanks, I will fix this. I'm afraid manually modifying the EXIF data is
the only workaround for now.

Kind regards,

No problem.
Only playing around with some stuff and PTGui so it's not a "real" problem.
Just though I might as well report it.
Workaround works fine for me.
Thanks
