The new drone DJI Mavic is quite a powerful flying camera and it does great 360s
The 160mm lens (equivalent) creates panoramas with 155 shots including the full sky.
Stitching those photos are not easy, as the sky (4 to 5 rows are just skys).
It wonder, if it would be easy to create a  template for that?
The grid solution does not seem to work, as the first row is the center row with shots 1-20,
Then it shoots 5 rows for the upper part of the pano with reduced numbers, and the same then for the lower part of the pano.
Papyrwizard does not seem to work, as it starts its rows from the top to the bottem.

Any idea how to solve this to get an easy workflow for the panoramas?
Thanks

Herwig, Does the drone not include camera orientation data in the metadata of the images?  If it does, PTGui should be able to position the images automatically.  If it doesn't, you should shoot a panorama in a large enclosed space with lots of features for control points - like a church - and align the images in PTGui.  Save the project as a template.  Otherwise, you could align the images you already have, by manually editing the y,p,r data on the Image Parameters tab. (Make use of the Fill YAW function). The upper rows showing only sky will probably have similar yaw and pitch increments as the lower rows, which should stitch easily with control points.

Hi Kévés,

Do you have set of images for me so I can try?

Kind regards,

Does the Mavic 4 Pro shoot full coverage? I use a Mini 3 Pro that leaves a small gap at the zenith. I would be interested to know if the new infinity gimbal solves this.

Hi all,

tried out also my new M4pro with the 168 mm lens.
Shot in free panorama mode 263 pics with 168mm as 12.5 Mpix JPG.
Unfortunately PTGui can not arrange automatically.
And the drone does not shot like a Seitz VR with zigzag or left to right up/down.
Drone shoots left to right, but first at horizon, then upwards and after this downwards.

@Joost: should i provide you the pics for testing?

Perfect, thank you! Great to have panoramas at 3 focal lengths also.

DJI seem to have changed the XMP metadata namespace, this will be
handled correctly in the next PTGui update.

Hello Joost, thanks for 13.2.

Now the M4P Panos are working.

Great Job!
