Hello,

I use my Cintiq a lot, which is very much like a wacom tablet/pen combo, except you can write on a screen. Although it should just be emulating a mouse, it is extremely slow on the PTGUI Interface. So much so, that it's unusable. Anyone know why?

The screen itself doesn't seem to be a problem as I can use a regular mouse when the GUI is on that screen, but when I try to use the wacom pen, it's super sluggish.

The pen works great on every other app I use, so there much be some incompatibility with PTGUI.

Any ideas?

Thank you,

Andres

Hi Jose,

I don't know what might cause this, and I'm not sure if it can be fixed.

Is it this device?
http://www.amazon.com/Wacom-Cintiq-Graphic-Monitor-CINTIQ24HD/dp/B005MYF4J6

Are you running Windows or Mac?

In the mask tab, does it correctly draw the paths you've drawn with the
pen, but just with a delay?

Is anyone else here using a tablet/pen, and is it causing problems?

Kind regards,

My Wacom Graphire tablet bought in 2000 is much the same age as PTGui, with which it works perfectly on Windows 8.1.  There are minor compatibility issues with a few other programs concerning the mouse buttons, which are not recognized when in normal mouse mode.  The workaround for that is to temporarily configure the mapping to pen mode (absolute cursor positioning).

Hi Andres,

you don't describe what exactly you try to do with your pen in PTGui. I just tried my Cintiq 21UX (Driver version 6.3.11w3 / OS X 10.8 / PTGui Pro 10, "classic" Mac Pro 2x Xeon) and I see no problems here working in a project with 36 images. Probably something with your Cintiq setup. Try updating the Wacom driver.

Masking works great. For most other tasks in PTGui I'd prefer the mouse since e.g. dragging (fine tuning) the panorama in the Panorama Editor is IMHO silly with a Cintiq with my hand hiding the image...

Thank you for the replies. I'm glad to know that its not a universal problem. I have the cintiq 13hd on a new Mac Pro, 6 cores with D700s as part of a two monitor setup. My problems happen regardless of using it on the cintiq itself or controlling the mouse on the main monitor. ( using as a regular tablet )

Currently, masking works but there is about a 2 second delay. I also like to use it to fine tune control points, but they barely move at all when I use the cintiq. It's as if the points stop being tracked after a second or so. Oddly enough, the ONLY thing that works well for me is panorama viewer sliders.

Besides PTGUI, I use the tablet with Photoshop, sketchbook pro and inkBook without any problems.

Oh silly me! My masking still feels terrible, but the control point editor now works fine. What was it? Drum roll? "Slow down mouse when not at 100%" setting in preferences. It's, of course,  a great feature when using the mouse. A terrible feature when using a pen.

Thank you all for your replies. I would have not kept trying if I didn't hear how it worked fine for all of you.
