Hey Joost,

I'm wondering if it is a known impact of using Masks that the stitching time takes a significant hit? From our experience at the moment, when we clear the masks in our PTGui projects they will take around 6 minutes, versus about 15-16 minutes when using masks.

Happy to provide more details as needed.

Hi Conrad,

It's expected to be slower but I'm surprised it's that much slower.
Could you make a project available for download?

Kind regards,

Hey Joost,

I thought to try another machine this morning and found it rendered in 3 minutes again.

Turned out to be some issue with the GPU VRAM usage, when I turned off the automatic usage and set the VRAM usage to maximum (16gb) it immediately went back to fast stitching.

Ah! That's helpful. In PTGui 13 the default VRAM usage was reduced to 2
GB. I thought it would make no difference, but for larger source images
it will cause some processing to be moved from the GPU to CPU. I'll
reconsider this change.

Kind regards,

Ha, that makes sense!

I would vote for there to be a "Use Maximum Possible" option for those of us needing it.

Cheers

The 2GB default has been removed in PTGui 13 beta 12, PTGui will now use
most of the GPU memory by default.
