HDR panoramas are very Dark

The jpg image comes out beautifully - possibly a bit over exposed - I have tone mapped panorama set.

However, the hdr comes out with the shadows very dark as if the tones have not adjusted. 

What am i doing wrong please.

What do you mean by HDR? The tonemapped output or the output in an HDR
format like .exr or 32bit TIFF? And what version do you use?

What software are you opening the 32 bit image in?

[PTGui Support]

It's normal, you can just increase the brightness in your vfx application.

PTGui scales the EXR output such that 1.0 corresponds to white in the
middle exposure of your bracketed sets.

I had the same problem, 32bit hdr panoramas were dark and flat after export from PTGui. But I found, that after the PTGui update, the new version (beta 15) overrrode my default settings in Menu->Exposure/HDR and turned off "Real HDR" option, which also turned off Tone mapping, that was the reason. Maybe your problem has another reason, but you could at least check it.
