When creating the panorama, PTGui causes my computer to freeze and
slow down like a 32 K memory box from 25 years ago. I have
deactivated my anti virus software's real time scanning, but still
have the issue with PTGui freezing everything. Any suggestions? Has
anyone else encountered this very annoying problem?

I have a quad core processor and 8 gigs of RAM running in 64 bit mode
with Win Vista Premium.

Hi Paul,

Could you try reducing 'Use at most ...% of available RAM memory' to
e.g. 50% and see if that helps?

I've been having the same problems lately with the same set up.

Alot of times the first pano I stitch is aligns and render's quickly,
but the following pano's start going real slow at different points
(sometimes the program lags just when I do a crop circle).

I'm trying to figure out what's causing the problem as well. I've
adjusted my processors to 1, 4, and 6 at different times - and am at
50% RAM right now (6 seemed to be the best fit - but lately, I'm
starting to stall out at random times). I feel like I'm in the same
arena as Paul though.

I look forward to figuring out what's causing the slow down :) Thanks
everyone!

- it seems like things slow to a crawl when batch stitcher's at work
in the background ...

still making guesses as to why performace is varying so much ... like
I said there are times when everything flys - and those times are
exciting, but I'm having more down time than up time right now. I'll
try to be more technical with my future posts about this.

my system: vista premium - 64bit, i7 processor, 6 gig of ram

are there others with the same type of set up (windows 64 Vista, mulit-
thread processors, over 4 gig ram) who had the same problems and
troubleshooted?

PTGUI is getting stuck at "fine tuning images" right now for different
projects ... I'm baffled

Is it possible to change the settings for batch stitcher alone? Like
memory allocation, temp drive, etc? I think mine is acting funny -
the rest of my PTGUI is pretty zippy when I don't have the stitcher
working in the background ...

Hi Rawtoast,

Currently the same settings are used by the GUI and batch stitcher.

So you are running both the GUI and the batch stitcher at the same time?
In that case you should probably configure half the number of threads
and half the amount of RAM.

Setting the "use at most" to 49% seems to have helped with other
applications being able to run somewhat more smoothly, although I
still notice some slowdowns and occasional freezes. But last night I
left a pano output of an HDR with 294 6 shot linked bracketed images
and when I checked my machine this morning, it appears that the
warping process is super slow. The dialog/process window says
"warping image 117, 118, 119, 120 (of 294). It is progressing, but
very slowly. The output size is 17,000 x 8500 (about) at 16 bit. Is
it normal for that to be so slow? I would say it's been running for
at least 8 hours.

Correction: The pano I am stitching is 49 sets of 6 bracketed
exposures each.

Hi Paul,

Could you post the project file (just the .pts) to the Files section?
