Automatic exposure adjustment turn off

I tried to turn off Automatic exposure adjustment, couldnt do it.

I found automatic exposure controls (at least) in these three:

1. Project Settings
        Perform automatic exposure and color adjustment (off)
2. Exposure / HDR
        Settings -> Optimize brightness (disabled)
        Settings -> Optimize white balance   (disabled)
3. Panorama Editor
        Blending -> Exposure compensation (off)

Are these settings independent? Should I use them all or just one or two?

This configures whether exposure and vignetting optimization is done as
part of Align Images

> 2. Exposure / HDR
>         Settings -> Optimize brightness (disabled)

This will adjust the 'Exp Offset' in the Image Parameters tab.

This will adjust exposure of images based on the EXIF exposure data.

Also see the popup help text of these settings, there's some more
information there.

Make sure the 'Exp Offset' column in Image Parameters is set to zero for
all images. And Exposure Compensation is off. Then PTGui will not adjust
the exposure of your images.

The blender will still make adjustments to the images though. Try
setting Panorama Editor -> Blending -> Blender: Don't Blend to see if
that's causing the confusion perhaps.

That worked fine, thx.

PtGui does a decent job with automatic exposure turned on.

However, if you create a psd file with individual layers, the exposure in the underlying layer is not same as in the panorama (and its not the same as in the original image).
So if you want to fine tune the seams with layer mask, the exposure difference will show. This will of course not happen if the original images are properly taken and processed ;-)

Is it possible to incorporate the exposure adjustments made by Ptgui also to the underlying layers?

Hi Hannu,

In that case you would want to enable automatic exposure and color
adjustment in the Exposure/HDR tab. Click Settings and enable 'Optimize
Brightness' and 'Optimize Vignetting'. These adjustments will propagate
to the layered PSD image.

However, this will not completely eliminate all differences, especially
for your analog images which probably are not be consistently exposed.
The blender will take care of this, but the adjustments made by the
blender are not reflected in the individual layers in your psd file
(this is simply not possible).

So I guess here it would come down to using the dodge and burn tools in
Photoshop.
