If you're running Win7 64 bits make sure to install the 64 bits
version of PTGui.
Cheers,
G.
I think you need to be more specific if you want a qualified answer.
Which OS are you running? Are you running PTGui 32 or 64 bit? In which
step do you get the error? What are your settings in Options->Advanced?
If you didn't already I'd suggest to read
http://www.ptgui.com/support.html#2_18 and scan the rest of the page
regarding memory.

I'm using Win 7 x64 and running PtGui Pro 64 bits either. Disk cache
is enabled. I have 16Gb RAM. Use of memory is set to "auto" in PTGui
options. Error occurs when the program is warping images (HDR, 3 sets
of 12 pictures, RAW files form Canon 1Ds MkIII). At that time Windows
Manager is showing use of around 15.5 GB of RAM.
I suspect it might be windows itself as the problem is not occurring
on every instance, even when running the same project. Windows Manager
is showing use of about 15.5 GB and then, sometimes not always, I have
windows message that the system is running out of memory. PTGui is
failing "randomly" - at least I can't see any relations. Sometimes is
showing "Out of memory" message just after the system is alarming
about low memory resources but sometimes also before any system
warnings. Just thinking out loud - it might be some windows process
which is suddenly taking some RAM already assigned to PTGui causing an
error.
As a cure for that I'm trying to allocate memory at the level of 80%
of RAM (in PTGui->Options->Advanced). All seems to be working OK.
Assigning 84% on one occassion caused "out of memory" error again.
One thing you might try though: does the problem only happen with RAW files?

You gave me a good lead :-) It looks it was Windows virtual memory
management. I had "Automatically manage the size of SWAP file" (it is
translation from polish so in english ver. wording might be
different ;-) ) in system efficency set up but for some mysterious
reason "Actually assigned" was showing zero all the times, also in
System Monitor. The system was not changing that size even when
running out of memory despite the fact that the same system was
displaying "recommended size" = 24571 MB. I left the box
"automatically manage the size..." unmarked and I choose "size
controlled by the system" (I have no idea what is a difference :-) )
but now SWAP file size is changing and it seems that there is no more
"out of memory" problem. I'm not 100% sure yet but at least some
projects which were causing an error recently are now running
smoothly.
I'm shooting only in RAW and doing a lot of HDR panoramas. Practically
each one is RAW/HDR :-) PTGui is amazingly efficent and super-fast on
such panoramas so I wasn't even thinking to try with TIFF or JPEG
files. Will do if the problem will re-occur. I hope will not.
Best regards,
Wieslaw

Good that you found the problem.. I still don't understand why this
would happen but it's good to know.

The idea was that the out of memory error might actually occur in dcraw,
but this is probably not the case anyway here.
