Hi, I'm trying to increase the size and resolution of my projects and have a memory problem. First PTgui eats up all available memory, then it tries to dump data into a huge temp file. And while I appreciate that PTgui doesn't want to de-rasterize raw images twice, I end up with a message that the drive is full before it fills up system swap space and either crashes or ends up into a crawl.
I simply didn't anticipate that something would try to put that much data into /var/tmp (this is a Linux system) so the root file system gets filled up. Which is never a nice thing as this is the main system directory.

I do believe I have to get some new disks anyway, and I can use that to set up some new partitions, but is there a way to set where these huge temp files get saved?

It could also be nice if there was a way that PTgui could *not* use up so much space, perhaps going as far as throwing away image data that is not needed there and then, and then end up de-rasterizing raw images many times before finished.

Please see Tools - Options - Folders & Files, here you can configure up
to 3 locations where PTGui will store its temporary files (instead of
/var/tmp).

Most of the RAM/disk space is needed for keeping the entire panorama
while it is being assembled and blended. So discarding source images
would only help a little. Converting raw images is painfully slow, so I
think this would cause more complaints than it would solve.

Just getting 1 TB ssd would probably a much better way to solve the problem.
