I am interested in purcashing PTGui to make panoramas and stitch them together to create virtual tours.  Does the Pro version of the software allow me to make the virtual tour for my client's website.  If so, will it be viewable on handheld devices as well as desktops?

Hi Michael

Ptgui can't do that. You need to look at other software such as Panotour Pro, available from www.Kolor.com,

Is it recommended that I use software such as Panotour Pro to stitch and create the tour versus using PTGui to stitch and then using Panotour Pro to create the tour for my client's website?  Also, is there any way to view the purchase price of the suggested software in US dollars?

Hi Michael

my workflow always uses Ptgui. Panotour Pro doesn't stitch - it creates the virtual tour using a series of panoramas. Here is an example - all stitching done using Ptgui; tour built with Panotour Pro:

Kolor have their own stitching software called Autopano Pro, but you don't need this for standard tours. I have it as well as it allows you to embed video in your panoramas which is very exciting! An example:

click on the 4th image along on the bottom 'waterfall'

good luck

It depends on just how elaborate you want the tour package to be. If you just want something simple, with individual pano's that you can place hotspots in to directly link to other pano's, there are several options. Panotour was mentioned. Pano2VR will also do it. It might not be as easy to use as Panotour because you have to dig into it a little bit and make some templates. But the cost is quite a bit less.

Good point Ray

Panotour Pro is very expensive, and probably only worth it for commercial projects.

There is also KRPano which I started out with which will also do a good job as well, costs around $99.

Hi Michael you can also use Flashificator, ( http://flashificator.com/ ) to create a tour. Here is an example of a tour I have created with it http://www.360panoview.co.uk/NewFlorence/index.html click on the rotating cube , it will open the panorama you are looking at,  on the bottom left hand corner there is a small picture/icon with the next panorama on the sequence of the tour of the Boboli Gardens in Florence.

Kind regards,

Rodrigo

I am new to this... Thank you for all the responses.  My only concern now is what software should I consider that I can use on a Mac to develop the tour that won't be too expensive?

I must confess I'm very much out of the loop regarding Flashificator. I
see your tour requires Flash to view. (On my iPad it just shows a
messages that says "Download Adobe Flash Player".) Is there HTML5 pano
support yet?

Can that Flashifactor (I'm guessing no HTML5 yet because of the name) allow for picture hotspots, or video hotspots? What about Autotours?

Try PANO2VR ! It allows you to make tours the way you want it, and there's a lot of tutorials available on the Net !!

Consider using PTGui to stitch your panos then upload them to Google Maps and link them together into virtual tour constellations published on Google Maps Views - https://www.google.com/maps/views/home?gl=us&tab=1

The resulting virtual tours are easy to publish on a client's website using the embed code on the Google Map View

I'll second using Pano2VR for making the tours (from the images you've stitched in PTGui). It's not expensive (69.00 for the standard version) and it's very versatile. There's a bit of a learning curve, but lots of help available on their website and forum.

Flashificator is a front end for Flash Panorama Player (FPP), software
that used to be particularly popular for pano delivery. It's very
capable, and can do all those things you mentioned. Unfortunately, the
last time I looked HTML5 was still not a possibility. So until there's
new news, IF you want to support mobile devices it's not something to
use.

Thanks! I'll stick with my software then.

I believe Keith is correct. No HTML5 for FPP. Which is a shame because I
really liked the software. There were lots of community written addons
that gave the product some robust capability. Once you mastered the XML
file structure for the software you could create some excellent
templates that would really let you do quick and easy changes to one, or
even a large number of pano's.
