Hi, im trying a new lens with PTGui but am having trouble setting it up. Ptgui doesn't detect the lens, so I manually set it as an ultra wide angle lens with a focal length of 6mm. It's however not detecting control points (I shot 3 bracketed photos 180 degrees apart). In the crop section, the circle is always way too small and I have to manually adjust it. Any way to get this to automatically have the correct crop? Also, I've added a good amount control points but it still wont stitch them together. Is there any way to get this to work? I know in the future I will need to take photos from 120degrees, but is any of this doable with what I've got?

Conrad, Why are you not specifying the lens type as Circular Fisheye?  I did a rough quick stitch of your screenshot images and got this:

Conrad, See the FAQ item at https://www.ptgui.com/faq#6_39 , which describes the method I used.  As mentioned there, you didn't have enough overlap for PTGui evaluate lens correction parameters accurately.  It's a good idea to perform a calibration exercise by shooting four shots around to give maximum overlap.  You can save lens parameters so evaluated in the Lens Database (via the Lens Settings tab) so you can readily apply them from there when needed.  For ease of processing, you can save a successfully completed project as a template from the File menu.  You then load in your new pair of images and run File->Apply template, but you will probably still have to generate control points and possibly do this manually.  Taking 3 shots around  is a far better plan.  Automatic control point generation is then much more successful.

Hi Conrad,

Is the cropping circle set correctly in the Crop tab?

As John say, it's much better to shoot 3 images around, for several
reasons. Please give it a try.

Kind regards,

..and when you do shoot 3 images around, could you make the images
available for download? I will then include the lens profile in the next
PTGui update.
