Hi

I am wanting to project a 360 degree cylindrical image created in Ptgui to planar. Is this possible with Ptgui or do I need to explore other image processing software out there? If so, which one?

thanks

Mike

It's impossible to convert a 360° image in its entirety to planar (rectilinear) since a rectilinear image is limited to a view of < 180°  (or more realistically < 120° or so).  See PTGui FAQ http://www.ptgui.com/support.html#5_28 , which describes the process of deriving a rectilinear image from a 360x180 equirectangular spherical image.  The process is similar for cylindrical images: just select lens type cylindrical instead of equirectangular.  You may also need to adjust the vertical shift lens parameter to bring the horizon to its correct position along the centre line of the output area when the horizon is not centered in the input image owing to asymmetric cropping at the top or bottom at some stage.  If you don't do that, the perspectives in the output image will not be correctly rendered.
