Pleeeeeeease!!!
:-))
I'm definitely trying to leave Windows nightmare behind, Ptgui is one of
the last things left. Unfortunately I'm not and will never be a unix
technician, so Hugin, as I understand, will not be a solution for me.

I still have some small issue with hugin and with command lines...
Mac?
No way, not an option.
I''ve an old 12" I keep for playing music with external audio board.
And 50 in university.
I hate osx more than I hate windows.

i had it running under ubuntu 9.04 and wine, only to discover that it
is only half as fast as under osx (roughly same cpu, ram, HD)... i
went back to osx.

Luca has a good point, it's Window's, the software that is
the fat sloth on the PC, not the PC itself, Mac users just
don't get that as they have hardware that is the
underperformer for them.

The fastest computer I have ever seen and I mean ever seen
in my entire life, and believe me I have seen a few beasts
in my time was an old single processor PIII 1000 running a
cracked version of OSX.

I know it's a hacked version but there is a super cut-down
version of XP that is circulating that is really lean and
fit as it has nothing unnecessary running in it.

I have also had excellent reports for Window 7. But then,
compared to Vista anything would be better.

not exactly "lean and mean"

Here’s what you need to have:

* Internet access (to download Windows 7 RC and get updates)
* A PC with these minimum recommended specifications:
- 1 GHz 32-bit or 64-bit processor or higher
- 1 GB of system memory or more
- 16 GB of available disk space
- Support for DirectX 9 graphics with 128 MB memory (to enable
the Aero theme)
- DVD-R/W Drive

I think it's called

XP Pro Performance Edition December 2008
http://www.nokiaapps.org/pc-softwares/10500-xp-pro-performance-edition-december-2008-a.html

I've seen one computer on eBay with it installed. I don't
know anything else about it. Sounds great! But beware
the Zombies etc...
