Having set "Cylindrical (for wide angle panoramas)" as Projection
selection in the Panorama Settings tab window (360 x 100° for instance).
The QuickTime VR (.mov) created panorama is eventually a standard
CubicVR (with black holes at the Nadir and Zenith) and it is not a
cylindrical QTVR as anyone would normally expect from the association
of the wording in the Panorama Setting tab window and in the Create
Panorama tab window.
IIMHO a change in the description should be made in order not to
mislead the user.

PTGui always creates cubic QTVRs. First the output is generated at the
chosen projection, and then remapped to cubic.
The end result looks the same anyway (apart from any remapping
interpolation artefacts).

I think you have missed my point. I shall then make it more explicit
in my conclusion.
Agreed: a cylindrical VR movie may sometime look the same, but it is
not at all a Cubic movie. The differences are essential.
Some specific creation or post-edition on/with the respective .mov
can be done on one type and not on the other. Corresponding
applications may support only one of the two kinds.
It is impossible to replace some of the cylindrical VR peculiar
inherent features that may unleash creative panographers intention.
Giant orthographic movies or movies with more than 360 Degrees in yaw
are what comes readily in my mind.
My written original proposal was for you to reword some description
of your interface. But to be frank, I implicitly begged you to
implement the ability to produce true cylindrical QTVR in order to
completely rival other stitching application(s) that do so on my Mac.
