Wondering if read support for FITS and XISF imaging formats can be added PTGui. Both formats are opensource and free. I do a lot of astro photography and PTGui is really good at stitching astro images together and a much easier then trying to stitch together in PixInsight and other astro photography imaging software. If FITS and XISF was native to PTGui I would not have to convert the files to use with PTGui.

The XISF format information

Thank you,
Daniel

Also with astro imaging pixel size is used alot. PTGui has the sensor diagonal would be nice to enter in pixel size to get to the same calculations.

The sensor diagonal is used in conjunction with the focal length and the
projection to defines the image geometry. Hence sensor diagonal must be
a value in mm.

However, it is not critical, since PTGui will produce reasonable results
even if it is way off. Only the focal length will be calculated wrong to
compensate for the wrong sensor size. I tried a ten times larger sensor
diagonal value (423mm instead of 42.3mm) and got a focal length of 130mm
instead of 13mm, but the same result and the same optimization values.

The lens parameters (and camera sensor size) in PTGui currently are
independent of the image dimensions in pixels. The same camera/lens
settings can be shared by differently sized source images. Introducing
the pixel dimensions would significantly complicate the user interface.

Also PTGui can usually determine the sensor size automatically from the
metadata.

Hi Bikram,

It’s on the wish list; I don’t have any news at this time, I’m sorry.

Kind regards,
