If I optimize with ptgui a project with vertical (or horizontal) points with option "include in single pass",
seems that the Vertical(horizontal)  CP are ignored.
Instead with "level in second pass" everything goes.

So my question is: what is intended to do the "include in single pass" option?
Isn't it the same as  PanoTools optimizer?

Thanks

Toni

Always say which version of PTGui you are using.  AFAIK, the  "include in single pass" option works ok.  I've never known it to fail.  Try adding vertical line control points to just two vertical line features.  Drag the panorama into an obviously unlevel state and then run the optimizer with y,p,r checked on all images, except uncheck yaw on one image.  If that doesn't work, please upload your project file somewhere ( ge.tt is free for unregistered user) and post a link here.

"Include in single pass" is intended to work the same as panotools
optimizer. However, I got the impression some time ago that it still
works slightly different. Don't remember exactly though. I usually use
the panotools optimizer for perspective correction of single images...

Erik, It's certainly true that there were problems with horizontal line points and levelling in older versions of PTGui.  E,g, it was not possible to correct converging horizontals.  But they do appear to generally work in the current version 10.

Hi Toni,

If you do "include in single pass" you should also allow the optimizer
to optimize the necessary parameters (i.e. roll and pitch for all images).

With "level in second pass" the optimizer will rotate and move the
entire panorama in all directions regardless of the optimizer settings,
exactly like the Level Panorama function in the panorama editor.

Kind regards,

Thank you all,
I learned that using "level in second pass" is a good way to level the pano even if you forget to check roll&pitch or yaw...
And is much faster than PanoTools optimizer, which I'm going to dismiss after years and years....
