Are we talking about the same Adobe DNG converter that can import your RAW
files direct from your card as DNGs before you do anything with them, such
as import them and then convert them to TIFFs?
And when you convert these to TIFF, are you doing it individually or in
batches. You must remember that a RAW and a DNG are not images, they are
data files that do not produce an image until one is exported. What you see
in Lightroom or ACR is only a PREVIEW of what that output will be when you
finally export it as an image. Therefore, the DNG file retains much, much
more information than any sized TIFF, 8 or 16 bit, Adobe RGB or sRGB, even
ProPhoto RGB.
You just treat your DNG file as you would your RAW, you can correct any
aberration you like, white balance too, recovery, fill, contrast just as you
would with any RAW because it still is a RAW file, just without the 'extra'
manufacturer's 'stuff'.
