Hi all,

I’m encountering two critical issues with PTGui Pro 13.3 on Windows 11 Pro that I haven’t been able to resolve after extensive troubleshooting. Hoping someone can shed some light on what might be happening.

Link to Google drive Containing Project files/Raws/Template/and Batch list

Issue 1 – Batch Stitcher Failing to Process Projects

The Batch Stitcher intermittently fails to stitch certain projects without providing a clear error message.
I’ve uploaded sample input files and project files here:
👉 Google Drive link

There doesn’t appear to be a consistent pattern — same template and similar input sets sometimes succeed and sometimes fail.

Issue 2 – Successful Batch Jobs Producing Distorted Output

For projects that do complete “successfully,” roughly 50% of the resulting TIFFs are unusable due to warping or exposure artifacts.

Representative examples:

  • IMG_20251111_110053_00_113.tif – Exposure seam artifact

  • IMG_20251111_110116_00_114.tif – Warped / skewed output

  • IMG_20251111_144414_00_274.tif – Warped / skewed

  • IMG_20251111_144454_00_275.tif – Severe distortion

  • IMG_20251111_150936_00_287.tif – Extreme warping

  • IMG_20251111_170323_00_325.tif – Severely distorted projection

Troubleshooting Steps Attempted

  1. Performed a clean reinstall of PTGui Pro 13.3.

  2. Deleted all templates and recreated them manually.

  3. Tested using another operator’s template (same behavior).

  4. Rolled back NVIDIA drivers to multiple previous versions.

  5. Verified all input images are level

  6. Avoided proximity to near-field objects and seam-critical content.

  7. Confirmed system is idle during stitching to rule out resource contention.

Despite these steps, the problem persists across multiple projects and image sets.

System Configuration

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-13900KF

  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 4400 MT/s

  • Storage: 2× 2TB NVMe SSDs

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 (multiple driver versions tested)

  • OS: Windows 11 Pro (fully updated)

Additional Notes

  • The issue seems to have come out of nowhere.

  • All affected projects use the same camera and lens parameters that previously stitched without issue.

  • GPU acceleration is enabled.

  • CPU/GPU temps remain nominal during stitching.

If anyone has experienced similar instability in batch processing or can suggest specific diagnostic flags/logging options, I’d appreciate any guidance.
It would be particularly useful to know whether PTGui caches optimizer results per batch task or if corruption in a shared temporary file could cause inter-job warping.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Hi Markos,

I tried stitching the two projects in the 'Batch Stitcher Fail' folder.
I had to adjust the project for the source image location, but otherwise
the batch stitcher stitched them without problem.

At the bottom of the batch stitcher is a 'log' section. You may not have
noticed if it was small, it can be enlarged. If there's a red
exclamation mark, I would expect something has been logged there. Could
you take a look?

In the batch stitcher you can right click on the failed project and
choose Mark as Not Done. The batch stitcher will then retry. Does it
fail consistently, or is the problem really random?

Since it works for me, it's likely a hardware problem. You could try
disabling GPU acceleration and see if that makes a difference.

But it could also be caused by the i9-13900KF CPU, these cpus are known
to cause memory corruption under certain loads. There's lots of
information to be found by searching Reddit for this cpu.

Kind regards,

Hi Markos,

That's a different project, right? I'd be happy to investigate if you
could make your files available.

I would need to reproduce exactly what you are doing. If you use the
Batch Builder, please provide your template and the source images.

Regarding the original problem (cannot find controll points): It's
always possible that PTGui cannot find control points for certain
images. You can configure what the batch stitcher will do in such a
case: either abort the stitch with a red question mark, or still attempt
to stitch. This is configured under Project Settings - Batch Stitcher
Actions in your template.

If you have a good template, an you are shooting at the exact angles
defined in the template, you should be able to get a reasonable result
(with minor stitching errors) even if PTGui fails to find control points
for an image.

If you get totally warped results like you showed, something seems to be
wrong with your template.

You can get a good template as follows:

- Stitch one of your projects manually in PTGui. Adjust until the
results look good.
- Go to Project Settings
- Under 'Batch Stitcher Actions' check these boxes:
[X] Do Align Images
[X] Create the panorama
and uncheck [ ] but only if enough control points found
- File -> Save As Template

That's your template, it should work for other sets of images taken the
same way.

Again if you can't get it to work, please make the files available, such
that I'm able to reproduce exactly what you are doing.

Kind regards,

Hi Markus,

I'm sorry, I offer support here in the forum only. Please try this:

- Stitch one of your projects manually in PTGui. Adjust until the
results look good.
- Go to Project Settings
- Under 'Batch Stitcher Actions' check these boxes:
[X] Do Align Images
[X] Create the panorama
and uncheck [ ] but only if enough control points found
- File -> Save As Template

That's your template, it should work for other sets of images taken the
same way. You can use this in the batch builder.

If it doesn't work, please make your template available plus a set of
images for which it is failing, and I'll take a look.

Hi Markos,

Apologies, I didn't look at your files carefully. And I tried my own
advise and also got bad results! That workflow should work for regular
panoramas of multiple overlapping images, but it does not work for
back-to-back fisheye images.

The problem with the latter is that there just a tiny area where the two
images overlap (the outer ring of the fisheye circle). Generating
control points here is hit or miss. If PTGui finds control points on
both sides, the result will turn out fine. But if there are only a few
control points on one side of the fisheye circle, and none on the other,
the other part will go badly out of alignment.

If you want to do batch stitching of these, without manual intervention,
the only way is by not letting PTGui generate control points. Provide a
template with the alignment that PTGui will use for stitching.

I have attached my template.

In the template, I unchecked 'Do Align Images' and I also unchecked this
box:
"When this project is used in the batch builder, initialize the lens
settings for each project using EXIF..".

Give it a try and see how it works.

Kind regards,

Joost Nieuwenhuijse

Hi Markos,

I tried my template with your 5 DNGs and they looked fine. Maybe not
perfect but there is inherent parallax with any one shot camera.

When you use the template, make sure that this box is checked: 'will not
run Align Images', otherwise it would suffer from the original problem.

If you still get bad results, please let me know which source image and
I'll give it another try.

Kind regards,

Joost Nieuwenhuijse
