pterm and Cisco via telnet?

I have not been able to connect to any of our Cisco equipment using
telnet with pterm. I can use SSH to get to our firewalls, so I know
connectivity is good. It's telling me that the authentication failed,
though I can go to my PC and get right in.
I've checked the spelling over and over and over.
Is anyone else having this problem, or do you know how to get around
it?
