This Saturday, May 29….
…you have the tasty opportunity to dig into a heaping helping of
Riverview Park, followed by a complimentary lunch thanks to the
Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
You know that perennially wet section of the Bob Harvey Trail, where
Ron’s Baywatch Boardwalk has been in use for a year or so? That’s
our destination, but we’ll meet up above at the Visitor’s Center at
9AM. Be back munching lunch at the visitor’s center by noon.

Below is a full list of 2010 trail days this year in Riverview. If
there’s something in particular you’d like to do in the park,

Saturday, June 5
In honor of Kim Oriole, her husband Scott Bortree is organizing
mountain bikers to assist in a trail building day at Ohiopyle State
Park. Kim, who passed away last November after losing the fight to
cancer, was an avid hiker and mountain biker. She was a long time
volunteer at the park and for the Friends of Ohiopyle.
On Saturday, June 5 (National Trails Day), Scott and the Friends of
Ohiopyle are going to work on the construction of a trail to the top
of Sugarloaf Knob. We are looking for as many volunteers as possible
to assist in building this trail. Volunteers are asked to meet at the
park office on Dinnerbell Road at 9 am. We have some tools but if you
have hand tools please bring them. Bring water and snacks. Pizza will
be provided for lunch.

Sunday June 6th
Hillman State Park (Bavington) Big PTAG Workday - Meet at the Haul
Road Parking Lot as we will be working on improving the trails in the
Five Points/Haul Road area of the park. Projects will include
drainage improvements and vegetation trimming.
Meet at 10:00 AM at the Five Points Parking Area. We plan on working
until 1 PM. Lunch will be provided at that time. Bring saws,
clippers, pruners, etc. Wear sturdy boots and bring your own gloves,
safety eyewear, snacks, and water.

Thursday, June 24th – FRICK PARK
PTAG Stewards and volunteers should attend a free PTAG workshop to
learn proper Tree Pruning and Invasive Species control techniques that
you can use to improve your entire Trail Corridors. The workshop will
be presented by the Friends of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Parks
Conservancy and has been made possible by a conservation grant from
REI. Refreshments will be provided following the workshop at a local
East End establishment (TBD).
Thursday, June 24th 6 - 8pm in Frick Park. Space is limited so please

June 13th - NORTH PARK
As you may have read online, we're extending the trail on the west
side of N Ridge from Wisconsin Shelter to the spillway this summer,
which will create a 8+mile loop on N Ridge. There is a workday
scheduled for Sunday, June 13th to make the full length usable, with
improvements to be done throughout the summer. If you can't make it
on the 13th, but still want to help, we will be installing bridges
before and after the big workday as well as doing some other clearing
work.
If you're coming for June 13th, we'll be starting at 10:00 AM at the
Wisconsin Shelter on N Ridge Rd. If you want to help before then,
send me an email and I'll let you know when we're doing work.

In case you haven't seen it…
…there is a new bridge over Nine Mile Run, replacing the dilapidated
wooden one that was torn out years ago.
It's downstream from Frick Park and Commercial St, upstream from Duck
Hollow. I think it was just put in place in the past few weeks. Here
