Hi all,
Does anyone here have a good workflow for loading their own samples into a multi output sample playback plugin in Protools.
Basically I’m increasingly working on pop productions and am building drum tracks either with combinations of the boom plugin and importing samples and arranging them with copy and paste.
Its not a smooth or inspiring workflow when the artist is in the room and paying for the time involved!
Back in my sonar days I used session drummer where I could load samples into 10 pads which I could trigger from my midi keyboard and most importantly I could route each sample out to its own dedicated audio track for processing etc.
Does anyone have such a workflow going?
I haven’t gotten into using voice over OCR but it seems it could be a tool that could help me find my way to a load button in a sampler plugin, which would be a good start.
Thanks in advance for any input, help will be hugely appreciated.
Brian.

Check out Rogue Amoeba’s Farrago software. It’s a standalone sampler program, and its accessibility is top notch. It isn’t a plugin, but can be routed into Pro Tools fairly easily with a hardware out/in on an interface with spare I/O, or Loopback software by the same developer, which is also super accessible.

Hi Michael, thanks for the suggestion at a glance I’m not sure that is quite what I’m after, unless I’m wrong it doesn’t look like it’d be easy to trigger from midi. I’ll certainly keep it in my mind as an option though so thanks again for the idea. Good to know that rogue amoeba are on top of accessibility too.
