For the few guinea pigs out there, I have a question.

I want to make this very very clear from the get-go, I know all too well that we are *far!* far far from Avid certifying things for this, and never even once have I considered doing this on my main production machine. I wouldn't even attempt, but I am however curious.

Has anyone at this point with either the public, or the developer seed betas of Sonoma tried running ProTools? I know it would be much much much less than ideal, and no doubt would have at least some if not many issues, but I'm just wondering technically to what level those issues are.

I'm not asking you to disclose the specifics of your findings, unless you feel comfortable doing so, but at least keeping it generalized, I know you'd probably say don't do it! Again, I'm not going to. I'm just wondering though if it would technically hypothetically work.

Chris.

Don't worry. I have absolutely no intentions whatsoever of doing so. I was simply just curious.

On that note, in System Settings in Ventura, can someone talk me through where exactly I need to go to be absolutely sure that my mac come the Sonoma release date won't under any circumstances update by itself? I think I have it set correctly, but I just wanna be totally sure.

I left avid a long time ago, so cant't help you with that, unfortunately. Nonetheless, if you wanted to beta test, make a separate apfs volume, and install the beta of mac sonoma, and test it out. Since its a separate apfs volume, nothing will happen to your main volume, and you can test without ishues.
