OK, I have the stock Boom plugin which comes with the installation of ProTools.

I see the different presets, and I also see that if I hold down a note like C4, or rather middle C, on my midi controller, as long as that note is held, it plays the drum pattern associated with that preset.

The problem is, I’ve gone through a lot of the presets, but don’t seem to find anything that is 3 / 4 waltz time. Everything seems to be 4 / 4.

I was curious if there is a setting somewhere within the plugin window that would let me configure the time signature it’s using, as perhaps when looking, I missed something which should have been fairly obvious. Or, is it something where the patterns to choose from are pretty well pre-fix recorded, you get what you get.

Thanks for any help.

Chris.

There are 2 things to try.  though  I must also say that I don't use boom much, so thereby can not comment on the recording of their sample patterns. On with the things to try:
First change your time signature from 4/4 to 3/4. You do this by hitting command 1 to go to the time operations window, and there theres 2 textfields to change your signature. You should then hear patterns in 3/4 as desired.
Second, if this for whatever reason doesn't work, on the lower keys of your keyboard, you can play the drum samples like a standard midi drum kit. You could always create a pattern of your own doing it that way, aftr all the boom plug inself is largely inaccessible other than playing the keys on the keyboard and choosing presets. Hope this helps.

That's the issue though.

I tried changing the time signature to 3/4 as you described, but it definitely didn't change the patterns out to 3/4. Should it have?

Although there are presets, I don't think they account for meter. There's probably a non-automatable element which controls meter from the Boom UI. Not sure if there's a feasible workaround.

When you say "nonautomatable", I assume that would mean the parameter wouldn't be accessible with Voiceover? - Or, am I assuming incorrectly.

Yes. Within the effects area, only parameters that can be automated are visible. So, for example, a pop-up menu would not fall under that category and would not be seen by VoiceOver.

OK, that's what I suspected. Is it something I could get Aira to help with Team Viewer to make it automatable, or is that something done by the plugin venders themselves, and out of our control.

Only the developers can do that and I suspect this is one of those things that would simply never be included with automation parameters.

OK, that makes sense. Thank you for your help.
