Hi! I'm just cutting my teeth in PT12, so got a few basic questions. I've moved from Sonar on Windows, so not totally ignorant, but there are a few things that I'm not figuring out easily.
1: How would we go about auditioning patches in Structure 2?
2: Is there a way to use Ilok without sighted help?
3: How would you change the default path of where sessions are saved?
4: Can the metronome sound be changed?
I think that's all for now. I'm going through Pro Tools with Speech, and it's gotten me up and running. Been fooling with some projects I have imported from Logic, editing vocals and such, and so far, it seems so much easier than anything we've had before.

Hi Jesse,

I'll leave the Structure question for others who use it more than I do.
Download the latest version of the iLok License Manager from iLok.com. It's version 2.6 and it's completely accessible.
In the create session dialog, use the Choose button rather than the Default button. This will prompt you each time you save a session so you can choose exactly where you want to save.
I created presets for different metronome sounds. they're on the PT with Speech site. Download them and put them into your presets folder within the plug-in settings folder within the Pro Tools folder in your Documents folder. Hopefully that makes sense.

Let me know if you need further clarification. I'm leaving the studio to go drink a ton of beer and paint the town red. I'll check in later/tomorrow.

Slau

Thanks Slau! I've heard some of your work, and enjoy it! If there are any good accessible instrument plugins out there, please let me know. I can see right now that PT will be a money pit for me!

Hello Jessie, here is a section from a thread here on the list related to structure. HTH

Hi John,

I was able to get the structure presets to load. What you need to do is get cited assistance and when you choose an instrument in the presets menu, you need to have someone help you navigate that dialogue that is on accessible. The preset is just asking you to locate your structure folder which is in your applications folder under the dAIR instruments folder. Once you do that, all your instrument should work. The only exception I found is the two menus that are for the Motif and the Korg instruments.

On a related note, all the AIR Instrument presets can be made to work in the presets menu. All you need to do is copy the presets for each instrument that are found in the AIR Music technology folder in the applications folder to the Pro Tools preset settings folder. Once you do that, all the other instruments like vacuum and loom presets will be accessible as well.

HTH,

Vinny

Thanks! As soon as I get some sighted help, I'll get right on it! Wonderful!

No problem, I believe that the original poster on that was Vinnie FYI.

Hi Jesse,

Like you I'm migrating from Sonar. I am just picking up on your
reference to 'ProTools with Speech'. I've googled tutorials and it
throws up quite a lot, but please could you tell me if there's one
particular series of tutorials that you have found useful, and if so,
where are they?

Best,

Peter

PT with Speech is the only one I know of, and I figure I'll just pester the list if I need more help.

Thanks Jesse,

I was just after the PWS website but I finally found it and am buying
the tutorials.

Best,

Peter
