Just a heads up that the installation of Pro Tools 2019.6 is likely to reset your Pro Tools Preferences. Just in case, you might want to either duplicate or grab a copy from a backup. It's in your User Library/Preferences/Avid folder.

Yeah, me too but the installation seemed to reset virtually everything. not a big issue but might affect some.

So... if I do! experience issues, I did what was suggested by backing up
my Avid folder. Do I just paste that backup back over the top of the
current Avid folder within the finder, obviously, while PT isn't running?

In other words more simply put, how do I then restore that preferences
backup?

out of interest is it worth the upgrade to protools 2019.6, everything is running very smoothly here with 2018.12 and hi sierra. i’m happy to upgrade, but i’d like to make sure nothing has been broken. .
I have read all the installation instructions on the flotools site about upgrading to the current install and Mojave so i’m up with all that, I guess i’m interested in how it’s performing for everyone. If it’s going well, i’m happy to upgrade. but as we know it’s not easy to go back without a lot of mucking around.
Also is upgrading to mojave worth doing or does hi sierra work just as well for now. I don’t see much point upgrading the o s unless there’s some good reasons too.
I know i’ll need to
do this eventually

Well, the main advantage of upgrading to Mojave is the fix in the VoiceOver focus issue. As far as Pro tools itself, there aren't any accessibility differences as far as I can remember. There were some other bugs but they might not affect you. Avid details the fixes in the Read Me which you can check out before making a decision.
