Hi.
I realize that this question is a bit strange given that Protools is now up to 2020 and, according to Avid, earlier versions of Protools are not supposed to run under Catalina. However, when Catalina came out, I was able to successfully start and run Protools 2018.7, despite of what official channels were saying.
I just fired up Protools 2018.7 with the latest version of Catalina and, suddenly, Protools is just sitting there with not doing anything. I see "protools" window with VOiceOver, but it appears as if it is stuck in the middle of something. All my licenses are in orders my "perpetual" license still appears as active.
So, is there anyone here running protools 2018.7 on Catalina, or am I basically living in the past and my hope are vain?
I really have no reason to upgrade to 2019 or 2020, and was hoping that by owning a "perpetual" license, I would be able to simply use my 2018 version for whatever little needs I have.

Thanks for any ideas / pointers.
Best.
Vic

Hi Victor,
Sometimes, earlier versions were able to launch but they just won't work correctly. at this point, I don't think they'll even launch under Catalina since those versions had some 32-bit components.

I see! That's a bummer and wasted money, I guess!
Thanks a lot for the response and clarification!
Best,
Vic

Hi Victor,
Yes, given the compatibility between Pro Tools, operating systems and the whole subscription model versus perpetual licenses, it can get a bit hairy and sometimes the scenarios don't line up all that well.
Cheers and greetings from Kyiv!
