KK in the newest version of PT

Hi,

I still have some trouble making my KK S88 work with KK in PT when it comes to switching between tracks in PT when I switch to a different track from my S88.

In the most recent version of PT I have selected KK under the MIDI Controller preference, so that DAW Control selection automatically pops up. Is there anything else I should set in PT or on my S88 to make this work properly?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, HOST INTEGRATION DOESN'T WORK WITH THE ORIGINAL S61 AND S88 KEYBOARDS. IT DOES WORK WITH THE MK2 AND A & M SERIES KEYBOARDS.

Hi Slau, I forgot to write that it is the S88 MK2 I have.


I go to setup/peripherals/MIDI Controllers. Line 1 and 2 are used for HUI/FaderPort 16. So for line 3 I choose Komplete Kontrol as type, which results in DAW 1 in the columns for Receive from and Send to.

Is this the correct procedure? Should I place Komplete Kontrol on line 1 here, or does it matter at all?

Ah, I didn't know they made a mart 2 of the 88. The process you've described sounds right. Of course, you could always try putting it into the first slot. Who knows, maybe it can mae a difference. I don't use MIDI controllers so I can't test it myself. I have Eucon and C|24 so those aren't part of the MIDI tab in Peripherals.

Hi Slau,

I have put KK in the first slot and removed the FaderPort 16 from the setup. Now I can start/stop PT playback and turn on/off the metronome from the S88 MK2. But when I press the instance button to select among the PT tracks with KK plugin inserted, speech says No Instance available, even though there is several tracks with KK used in the PT session. Also, if I try to double press the shift button on the KK S88 to start the training mode, nothing happens.

I have updated the KK S88 MK2 firmware to the most recent version. FYI, this is with Catalina on an iMac 27» 2020.

Not sure why this doesn’t work as expected.

Hi John,
So, with the host integration, you no longer have to use the Instance button. Komplete Kontrol will follow the track selection instead. Use Control+P and Semicolon to make the selection and KK will reflect the current selection. Be aware that track record-enable still doesn't follow along with track selection. That's been a feature request for some time and I'm sure it'll eventuallyu be an option. Not sure what's going on with the Shift key for help mode. You did, of course, delete the FB360 plug-ins, right?

Hi Slau, i have a question as it relates to the kk and new version of pro tools?  What i'm trying to do is to bring up a most recent project and change the bass patch that i'm using for this project.  I'm not sure how i need to go throu the patches to hear the bass patches.  i also would like to know if komplete ultimate will have more bass patches to choose from.  I also want to try the p bass if i'm not mistaken on the name of this bass to see whether i like the sound of it or would fm8 have some basses that i should try.  Thank you.

Select the bass track, press the browse button on your KK controller and narrow down your results using the knobs and load whatever you'd like.

Hi Slau,

Yes I always remove the FB360 plugins after updating. The interaction between KK and PT now works as expected, it was your comment about KK following PT when switching tracks that was important to me. Thanks for that! :)

BTW, are there any plans for any newer version of Flo Tools, or is 2020.5.0 still the most recent version?

That is currently the latest version but we'll definitely update soon. We're still waiting on a new installer and will probably try to incorporate a few changes coming up in Pro Tools. Cheers,
