Avid Link

Hi,

Long time ago, I remember there was a discussion here about Avid Link, and some people reported there was a problem when Avid Link was installed. Not sure if that was only related to VO users, though. They recommended to deinstall Avid Link, or at least remove the menu line extension for it in Finder.

Can anyone update me on the current state? Is Avid Link still a problem? What kind of issues may be caused by Avid Link when working in PT with or without VoiceOver?

I’ll appreciate any feedback! :)

Hi John,

There's no problem, per se, it's just that Avid Link isn't particularly accessible for now. It doesn't interfere in any way. I'd just leave it alone and it won't get in your way. Hope that helps,

Hi, I thought that Avid link was also used to keep both Pro Tools and plugins updated at their latest versions if you enter in your login information into the program as I do or is this not true anymore as I am one of those people who likes to have the latest version installed at all times?  Nick Gawronski

Yes, you can set up Avid Link to auto update plug-ins. Again, it's not terribly accessible to do so but it's not impossible without sighted assistance. Level of accessibility has changed over the years. I'm not sure if it's at all possible right now without sighted assistance to set that up but, if you do set it up, it's essentially a background process and not a bad idea to implement.
