Hi everyone,

I am currently using Pro Tools 2026.4 on macOS 26.1 Tahoe. As I am completely blind, I rely on Keyboard Maestro to navigate and operate Pro Tools.

After recently upgrading my Mac, I completed the setup following my usual procedure. However, whenever I launch Pro Tools, the Flotools shortcuts do not work.

Interestingly, if I quit the Keyboard Maestro Engine and restart it, the shortcuts start working again. Is there a way to automate this workaround, or is there a proper way to get Pro Tools and Flotools to communicate correctly from the start?

Thank you for your help!

Hi Yuki,

The issue is not with Flo Tools but rather Pro Tools and VoiceOver. After you've launched Pro Tools, unload VoiceOver and start it again with VO+f5. VoiceOver should then behave correctly and, behave as expected with Flo Tools.

Hi Slau,

Thank you so much for the reply. I completely overlooked the Pro Tools and VoiceOver settings.

Is there any way to automate this process so that these settings are configured automatically?

Thanks again!

Well, rather than a setting, per se, it's more of a task one needs to perform for VoiceOver to work properly. Since you do have Keybaord Maestro, it's possible to create a global macro whose trigger is the launch of the Pro Tools application. The action can be to quit VoiceOver, wait a second and then relaunch VoiceOver. I created a similar macro to automatically log me into iLok License Manager whenever it's launched. I might just go ahead and create the macro for myself (because, why not?) and I can post it here. I'll do that within the next couple of days.

Best,
Slau

Hi Yuki,

I had this exact problem, and the solution was to open Keyboard Maestro, and check the option to have the Keyboard Maestro Engine run at startup.

HTH,

Peter
