Select all is dimmed

Hi everyone, I’m trying to select using the select all keyboard shortcut, and it wasn’t working.
Then I went to the edit menu, and the select all is dimmed.
Is there a reason why this is happening?
Do I have something checked or uncheck that I need to fix?
