Hi, all,

I’ve got a ProTools HD Native system running PT 12.3.1, and my “control surface” is a c24.  PT sees my HDIO interface and lets me select that playback engine, but it doesn’t see the C24.  The c24 says it’s offline, so I know it’s not being recognized.  Network lights show activity on both the mac and c24 sides. There is nothing indicating the control surface is present in the Setup menus of ProTools.

Incidentally, this is a new system that has never been connected.  This is not a case where the c24 was once there and now isn’t.

On the c24, Line out 1-8 is going to analog in on the HDIO, and ProTools In on the C24 is going to Analog outs 1-8 on the HDIO.

What am I missing here? Looking at the manuals, but figured I’d ask here, too.

Thanks, and happiest of holidays to everyone!!

Hi Satauna,

Saw your direct message before I saw this one so, just responding here as well, although in a condensed fashion. See my other message for more detail.

Ethernet tab of the Peripherals dialog under the Setup menu. Enable the Ethernet port checkbox and select the C|24 from the pop-up menus. If it doesn't work the first time, reboot the computer and try again. I had an invisible C|24 the first time I ran the v12 beta and it worked after a reboot. Let me know if that works.

Best,

Slau

Hey, Slau and all,

We got it to work! YES!!!!!! Slau, we’d actually gone into exactly where you’d mentioned, setup > peripherals, and enabled the Ethernet port scan, but it didn’t find anything. Turns out we thought the cable we were using to go between the Mac and the c24 was a crossover cable but it wasn’t.  We changed how it was connected to the network and it picked the C24 right up.

Thanks!

Satauna

Slau,

You say, "Saw your direct message."

So... it's now ok to ask you questions over Twitter?  I seem to remember you almost biting my head off when I did so, and us having a discussion about why my quote: folloers, don't wanna see that crap.

Now, I'm totally confused.

Which is it?  Can we, or can we not.

Chris.

Chris,

To relieve you of your confusion, the question is not whether one can or cannot engage me with questions about Pro Tools accessibility on Twitter but rather whether I'll respond and the answer to that is no and it has nothing whatsoever to do with other people's timelines because I couldn't care less about other people's timelines but I will not fill my timeline with responses to questions that belong on this list rather than my timeline. A direct message on Twitter is perhaps another matter because it's private an off the timeline by nature but that presumes that I'm following that person to begin with so, clearly, that doesn't apply here.

To begin with, I've known Satauna for years and she happened to send me an email and I happened to see it before I saw the message to the list. Second, although I used the term "direct message," I wasn't referring to Twitter. Third, it's one thing to send a direct message on Twitter rather than posting to one's public timeline and, finally, Satauna posted to the list before sending me an email and, despite the fact that she has every right to send me an email message, she had the good sense to post to the list in case 1) somebody else might also have an answer or suggestion and 2) any suggestions posted might help others who subscribe to the list for the expressed purpose of being involved in the discussion of Pro Tools accessibility.

Hopefully, that helps your confusion.

well, a DM is private, right?

P.S. Just curious. Who is behind that Logic with
speech site? I forget the exact name of it.
Basically, it was a long rant when I checked it,
not much in the way of guides, tutorials, or real
info. Perhaps my mind tuned out halfway through and I missed something.

As for the web site, you're probably thinking of my web site:

http://www.logicaccessibility.com

I'm not real sure what you're referring to though by a long rant. I don't
recall there being any such content up there, so you might be thinking of
something else.

I do agree that the web site doesn't have very much up there though. I'm
slowly but surely working on adding content. With work and everything, I've
not had a lot of time during the week to focus on adding content.

I'm hoping over the rest of this week, that I can get some really good stuff
up there for you guys.

just please hang tight with me.

Being this list is more about ProTools though, let me end this thread by
saying this:

If you need to contact me about the site for any reason at all, there is a
contact form on the site you may fill out to reach me. I'll respond
promptly.

You can also e-mail me any questions regarding the web site at:

ch...@logicaccessibility.com

Hope this helps.

Chris.

"The reason is because DAW is actually, believe it or not, an
accronym which stands for "Digital Audio Workstation"."

What? Oh my god. I don't believe it! LOL
anyway, good luck with the site.

What?

I'm perfectly aware what DAW stands for. I'm not sure I'm following your
point.
You're absolutely more than welcome to write me off list, if that would be
more suitably appropriate.

Probably, but that is exactly what I said, so I'm confused.

Anyway, I don't wanna keep taking up this list for this discussion. He's
more than welcome to write me off list, if he so wishes.

clgil...@gmail.com

Have a great day Slau, and again, thanks for all you do.

I really, by the way, hope that you didn't see my message about Twitter as a
personal attack on you. It genuinely wasn't meant as such. I literally,
was confused. But now that you clarified, I better understand, and I see no
reason to continue the thread on list. Smile.

He was using the small quoted snippet to illustrate the writing style found throughout the site to innumerate his point about it being along rant.

I still dono what he's getting at though about it being a rant. I find the
stuff up there to be to the point. Not sure what more to say.

I'm getting about 50 to 100 hits a day on that site geographically from all
over the world, and you can see that yourself, by looking under the recent
visiters heading on the site. That's not something hidden just to me as a
site admin. That's totally publicly available to see, so, someone must
obviously like the site. Rant or not, to be getting that many hits a day, I
must be obviously doing something right.

Anyway, as I said, this is getting way off topic, so let's please take it
off list.

I'll respond if there are any more messages currently in my inbox regarding
this, but once I'm done with this batch of mail, I'm not gonna respond
anymore on list about this.

If you need me, then write me at:

clgil...@gmail.com

Thank you for your understanding.

Which makes the site very useful for testing to see if your VPN is working correctly. Cuz thats about the only way i’ll return to that site once i got there and saw that feature displayed on there.
