Hi guys:

A great afternoon to you all. I'm encountering something strange. I'm
instantiating plugins on a clip through the audio suit but the plugins
don't seem to be applied. When I preview processing, I could hear what
I'm applying on the clip. However, once I rendered it, close the
window, and play the track , it sounds the same as though I never
applied any plugins to it. Please help! I don't know what I'm doing
wrong. Anyone with an idea of what could happening? I would greatly
appreciate the support. Thanks!

Best,

Dammie

I'm a little confused.

What is the difference in using Audio Suite vs just simply instantiating
the plugin on an insert of a track?

Chris.

Hi Dammie,

In the audio suite window there is a button whichsays “process selected playlist” or something like that. If you accidentally clicked that button then it wonMt render the selected audio.

Hi Christopher:

Let me clear the confusion real quick. The difference is that
instantiating the plugin in using the Insert apply the effect to the
whole track. Instantiating through the audio suite in the meanu
applies the effect to a selected portion of audio in the track. Let
say you want 5seconds of a 15 seconds audio to sound like it's coming
from a transistor radio. You can easily make your 5secs insertion
using the up and down arrows, for instace. Then VO plus M to bring up
the menu and go for audio suite to select what you need. Once your
desired choice is rendered, the selected audio portion takes the form
of the effect applied, leaving the rest of the audio portion in the
track untouched.

Hope this clears the confusion Chris.

Hi Brian! Thanks man! You're 1000% right! I must have mistakenly hit
the button that reads Use Processed Output in Playlist. I selected it
again and the plugin was instantiated immediately I rendered it.
Thanks a bunch! God bless us all for this community!

Best,

Dammie

You are welcome, had much frustration with the same silly issue a few years ago 🤣

Actually, no. It doesn't; I'm still a bit confused.

Wouldn't the scenareo you describe be better suited by writing effect
automation to the track over that five second selection? I guess what
I'm saying is, what would be the advantage of using one over the other,
or is this one of those cases where some choose a ford, some choose a
lamborghini. Either will get you to the same destination. It's just
which one you prefer.

Chris.

Yes two different ways to accomplish the same task. The advantage of writing automation is that the sound isn’t printed to the audio and can be undone later by deleting the automation.

OK Orio. That makes total sense. Thank you for the clarification.
