Hi list,

I've got the contour shuttle pro for transport and editing tasks, and wondered if this is still compatible as of pro tools 9.

I read around the net that it has been rendered compatible with pro tools up to 6 but from there the trail is lost.

Anyone use this one for transport control and editing?

I've also been looking into the following hardware for full control on pt:

Euphonics mc mix v2
Euphonics mc transport

I wouldn't want to shell out 400 or so bucks for the mc ptransport if the shuttle pro is fully compatible with pt, as well as for custom key mappings.

Anyone successfully used the shuttle pro on their setup?

Best

Yuma

Hi Yuma,

The thing about the Shuttle Pro, from my recollection, having used it years ago and having returned it, is that it basically recreated things one could easily do with keyboard shortcuts. One thing that it claimed to facilitate was scrubbing but it wasn't at all scrubbing. what it was was a detented wheel that gave you shuttle mode at various speeds but not scrubbing. Now, the 003 has a similar mode but I think it does it better, not as good as a purely smooth scrub wheel but still better than what the shuttle Pro had to offer. By all means it's not a bad product, per se, it's just that I don't think it really offers much. Meh.

HTH,

Slau

Hi Slaw,

I just tested it now, and though the buttons dont seem intuitively placed, and i have to interact with the transport cluster for it to work, scrubbing seems ok, at least with the springy wheel thing. The actual jog doesn't seem to do what its supposed to.

There are many buttons on this thing, and they're not very well indicative of what they should do, and the control panel for the shuttle pro isn't particularly accessible, but if this can get me through note changing and editing as discussed on a previous post, i'll give it a try before i actually hook myself up with a proper setup such as the euphonics family of controllers.

Cheers

Hey Yuma,

As they say, your mileage may vary. BTW, it's S L A U not S L A W.

Cheers,

Slau
