Hi guys. well strange things happening with protools today. Basically there strange things happening with a lot of PT commands. for example I can’t go into record mode with num pad three. I can’t add a new memory location with mum bad enter. I also can’t go to any of my locations with period location number and period. when I do this it tells me cancel or or choose another menue. . I can how ever do these things with voice over off. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue. i have also checked multiple times that quick nav is off.
Thanks for any assistance.
steve

just to add it looks like it’s an issue with things num pad related and voice over. i also can’t scrub back and forward with plus and minus on mum pad. But once voice over is off, it works perfectly. Verry odd, i’ve not updated anything on the mac in some while.

VERIFY YOU DON’T HAVE NUMPAD COMMANDER OR MOUSE KEYS ON.

Also make sure that the US keyboard layout is enabled.

thanks Slau and Martin. Only thing is I can’t for the life of me remember how to check where the keyboard layout is. I did look in preferences, but might be missing it. Also I don’t know anything about keyboard commander and how to turn it off. Any thoughts would be much appreciated, as I need to get some work done. Lol Thanks

For the numpad commander check the VO utility (VO+F8).
In the category "Commanders" you'll find the numpad.

Keyboard layouts you will find under system prefs., Keyboard, Input Sources.
If you already set up some, you should toggle them via Control+Space - depending on the shortcut settings also under System Prefs., Keyboard.

Hi guys,
Control option clear toggles the numpad commander off and on.
The clear key is just above the 7 key on the num pad.
So hit control option clear to turn it off or on!
I probably do this 50 or more times in a pt session so its mussel memory by now.

OK, saw your previous message first and answered there. Glad it's sorted. Keep in mind that, while Control+Option+Clear turns it off, that's actually a bug in VoiceOver because it should be VO+Clear (regardless of the keys defined as VoiceOver keys. Most people have switched over to CapsLock and so CapsLock+Clear will certainly turn Num Pad Commander on but only Control+Option+Clear will turn it off. This has been a bug for a while. Anyway, something to keep in mind.
HTH,
Slau
