How to Use FANUC LADDER-III V6.3 for CNC PMC Ladder Programming
FANUC LADDER-III is a software tool that allows you to create, edit, monitor and debug ladder programs for CNC machines with FANUC's integrated Programmable Machine Controller (PMC). It is compatible with Windows operating systems and supports various FANUC CNC models. In this article, we will show you how to use FANUC LADDER-III V6.3 for basic ladder programming tasks.


Installing FANUC LADDER-III V6.3
To install FANUC LADDER-III V6.3, you need to have a valid license and a USB dongle. You can request a license and a dongle from FANUC America[^1^]. After you receive them, follow these steps:

Insert the USB dongle into your computer.
Insert the installation CD into your CD-ROM drive.
Run the setup.exe file and follow the instructions on the screen.
Select the language and the destination folder for the installation.
Enter the license number when prompted.
Complete the installation and restart your computer.

Creating a New Ladder Program
To create a new ladder program, follow these steps:



Launch FANUC LADDER-III from the Start menu or the desktop shortcut.
Select File > New from the menu bar or click the New button on the toolbar.
Enter a name for your ladder program and select a PMC type from the drop-down list.
Click OK to create a new ladder program.
A blank ladder diagram will appear on the screen. You can use the toolbar buttons or the menu commands to add contacts, coils, timers, counters, functions and other elements to your ladder program.
You can also use the mouse to drag and drop elements from the library window on the left side of the screen.
To edit an element, double-click on it or right-click on it and select Properties from the context menu.
To delete an element, select it and press Delete on your keyboard or right-click on it and select Delete from the context menu.
To save your ladder program, select File > Save or click the Save button on the toolbar.

Uploading and Downloading Ladder Programs
To upload or download ladder programs between your computer and your CNC machine, you need to establish a communication link using either a serial cable or an Ethernet cable. Follow these steps:



Select Communication > Settings from the menu bar or click the Settings button on the toolbar.
Select the communication mode (serial or Ethernet) and enter the parameters for your connection (port number, baud rate, IP address, etc.).
Click OK to save your settings and close the dialog box.
Select Communication > Connect from the menu bar or click the Connect button on the toolbar to establish a connection with your CNC machine.
To upload a ladder program from your CNC machine to your computer, select Communication > Upload from the menu bar or click the Upload button on the toolbar. A dialog box will appear showing you the list of available ladder programs on your CNC machine. Select the one you want to upload and click OK. The ladder program will be opened in FANUC LADDER-III.
To download a ladder program from your computer to your CNC machine, select Communication > Download from the menu bar or click the Download button on the toolbar. A dialog box will appear asking you to confirm if you want to overwrite the existing ladder program on your CNC machine. Click Yes to proceed or No to cancel. The ladder program will be transferred to your CNC machine.
To disconnect from your CNC machine, select Communication > Disconnect from the menu bar or click the Disconnect button on
the toolbar.
