Hello, I'm a psychopsy new user and try to run a task of my lab on my personnal computer but somehow the task crashes during running.
I've got Windows 10 and tried first with Psychopy 1.82.01, because of that problem I uninstalled it and took version 1.83.03 (standalone) but it still crashes the same way.

This is the error message I get:
pyo version 0.6.6 (uses single precision)
portaudio server error in Pa_OpenStream: Unanticipated host error
Portaudio error: Unanticipated host error
Server not booted
The server must be booted!

(I already tried to change psychopy preferences: pyo before pygame in audio Library)

Can anyone explain what I could try to solve this?

Thanks a lot!
Maryll

I think you will not be able to use pyo for sound on that machine. Try using 'pygame' instead (in preferences > general > audio library, have 'pygame' come before 'pyo')

The error message is from portaudio, not from PsychoPy, so I am in the dark about the actual problem. The message itself suggests that portaudio (as used by pyo) in confused about something, which does not bode well for getting pyo to work.

Thank you very much for your help! I made pygame come first in the audio Library as suggested but another error occured:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime error!
Program: C:\Program files (x86)\Psychopy2\pythonw.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unsual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

And then the following error message:

pyo version 0.6.6 (uses single version)
Fatal Python error: (pygame parachute) Segmentation Fault

Does it give you more information about what's going wrong?

Thank you,
Maryll
