I have two PsychoPy demos I put together for classroom use. On Monday they worked fine on my MacBook Pro connected to a video projector via display port, using display mirroring. Tuesday I upgraded to OS 10.9 (Mavericks) and today I discovered that neither demo (on in Coder and one in Builder) worked. PsychoPy either froze or crashed, through various changes in the settings of PsychoPy settings and Mac Displays settings. The console displayed this set of errors:

23.10.2013 9:04:44.790 AM PsychoPy2[1060]: CGContextRestoreGState: invalid context 0x0. This is a serious error. This application, or a library it uses, is using an invalid context  and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system stability and reliability. This notice is a courtesy: please fix this problem. It will become a fatal error in an upcoming update.
23.10.2013 9:04:44.823 AM Finder[194]: CGSCopyDisplayUUID: Invalid display 0x5b81c5c1
23.10.2013 9:04:54.718 AM Console[188]: CGSCopyDisplayUUID: Invalid display 0x5b81c5c1
23.10.2013 9:05:33.859 AM Console[188]: CGSCopyDisplayUUID: Invalid display 0x5b81c5c1
23.10.2013 9:05:33.961 AM Console[188]: CGSCopyDisplayUUID: Invalid display 0x5b81c5c1

Has anyone else experienced difficulties with two screen displays? Any solutions? I'm using the latest standalone version (1.78.01).

Mavericks has a new option for separate spaces on two different monitors; so although they are linked together they don't tend to share all windows and properties. I had some problems with this as well (not in PsychoPy though) that were solved by turning off 'displays have shared spaces' in system settings - mission control.

Good luck!

Great Anne, thanks for the update :-)

Folks, if you're using iohub for keyboard/mouse events you should still hold off updating though - there's still an issue there.

Thanks Anne and Jon. Unchecking the box in the in Mission Control settings solved the problem for me. Lew
