My guess is that it isn't finding the files, so check your file names
and that they're in the correct folder etc. This came up as a solution
to similar query a couple of weeks ago. PsychoPy should really report
not finding the file, and a fix has been put in so that it will in future.

Hello all,
We are having a similar problem trying to get sound files to play in PsychoPy. We also do not receive an error message about faulty file paths, and have checked the file name to make sure it matches the Excel file. We are not sure what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Pria

Did you check if the files format is compatible with the software? Including bitrate, etc...

Dear Pria,

What exactly have you typed in the "Sound" field of your Sound component?

It shouldn't be the filename of your Excel file. It should be the name at the top of the column in that Excel file that contains your sound file names, preceded by a $

e.g. if your Excel file is set-up like this:

Colour SoundFile
red cat.wav
green dog.wav

Then in your Sound component, type this in the "Sound" field:
$SoundFile
And select "set every repeat" next to it so that a new sound is selected on every trial.

Regards,

Michael
