Dear both,
I am glad to share with you our last paper from the BeAM project on social representations of malnutrition in Nepal.
CAILLAUD, S., GINGUENE, S., LEROY, T., MAN MAHARIAN, S., KOIRALA, G., LE ROCH, K.. When communities face malnutrition: how context shapes the factors predicting relevant health advice in Nepal. Community Psychology in Global Perspective, North America, 11, oct. 2025. Available at: http://siba-ese.unisalento.it/index.php/cpgp/article/view/28788
This project aims to better understand the social representations of severe acute malnutrition (traditional beliefs about health, healthcare-seeking behaviors, perceived barriers, perceived risks to children, and representations of treatment) and the associated emotional processes that underlie healthcare-seeking behaviors for these children in two districts of Nepal (Saptari and Nuwakot). This project has highlighted several areas for improvement in the care pathway, including the need to consider mothers' social norms, reduce stigma towards mothers by health workers, and help health professionals understand that difficulties in recovery are inherent to malnutrition so that mothers are not systematically blamed for their children's illness.
