Dear all,


Please be informed that the validation of the Somatic Symptoms Scale (SSS), a brief assessment and screening tool for evaluating the somatic burden of individuals, was lacking in the Nepali context.


The translation, cultural adaptation, testing, and applicability of the tool through psychometric analysis using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were done to test the reliability and validity. All items, except one for stomach or bowel problems, to represent gastrointestinal symptoms, were retained with adequate factor loadings in the CFA process. The Nepali version of N-SSS-7, confirming a tri-factor model – pain, cardiopulmonary, and fatigue is validated for further use in clinical and research settings.
