Ihave a client with an iR-ADV C2030 who just migrated to Office 365 and no longer have an Exchange server. I'm trying to get scan to email working again (it was setup previously via their old Exchange server) and I was able to get it working by setting up a virtual SMTP server in their new 2012 Essentials server but it's problematic and I want to get away from using any server if possible and go directly from the C2030 to O365.
In the C2030's email/fax settings you can set it up for SMTP RX an there are fields for SMTP Server, Email Address; and for SMTP TX, allow SSL and using SMTP authentication you specify a user email address and password.
Has anyone setup a C2030 or a similar enough model for scan to email to Office 365 accounts that could guide me on how to do it? I haven't found anything specific enough at either Canon's or Microsoft's websites to be of help.
I can't see the bottom of the first screenshot but it appears you're using TLS protocol. TLS won't work for O365. STARTTLS always works and is what Microsoft wants. I've gotten SSL to work but not often. Unfortunately scanners don't always include the STARTTLS protocol, especially older ones.
Sorry, can't help you with the scan software. As for the Canon scanning, as long I follow the directions in that document I sent you the link for and use STARTTLS and an O365 account, it should work. Oh yah, you might need to allow the public IP where the scanner is located in your public DNS record settings. That would be in the SPF record.

I have allowed TCP 587 ports from our printers to office 365 (performed nslookups for
smtp.office365.com,
outlook.office365.com. I have also configured a test policy to allow traffic from one of our printers to any external using any port to ensure our firewall was not blocking anything.
Typically when we make any network changes to our Konica Minolta printers we have to unplug them from the power source and then plug it back in before it will work. also i would try using either
outlook.office365.com or the ip address of
smtp.office365.com to see if that works. finally I would check to see if the dns settings are set correctly.
Hi, thanks for posting! Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OKCANON (652-2666) and we will be happy to provide dealers who are in your area.
My company uses a web host that we can use for SMTP relay. We just create a user for them in our web host account and use those credentials on the Canon. We haven't yet been able to figure out a better way to do it. The SMTP service on 2012 does work, but is not as reliable as needed.
This is something that really needs a reliable, global solution as Microsoft is trying to get everyone to use Office 365 and not everyone has an on-premise solution to use for the SMTP relay for whatever brand of MFD. As people move from on-premise Exchange to Office 365, they lose their ability to do things like SMTP relay for MFD's.
There's Udocx, a cloud based service, to connect MFPs from all major brand MFPs/MFDs to Office 365 and other DMS systems. It allows you to send scans to your contacts and includes OCR. More details on
This add-in, assisted by the Scan-IT to Office app (see below), provides real-time data collection and barcode scanning for Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. Cloud services forward the captured data (barcodes, NFC tags, camera images, manual inputs, time-stamps, GPS locations etc.) immediately into documents and target applications on your desktop computer. This works wireless, regardless of your location, even across different offices, facilities or countries. Time-consuming copy/paste or export/import tasks are not required.
Scan-IT to Office provides an elegant alternative to conventional barcode scanners and dedicated mobile data collection equipment. Besides remote barcode scanning, it supports custom data acquisition forms using any combination of input fields: Use multiple barcode scanner fields, manual inputs (with text recognition support), images, lists etc. to cover requirements like stocktaking, check-in / check-out tasks, attendee tracking, picking, material management, field service tasks and many more.
Scan-IT to Office is ready to use in a few steps: Install the Scan-IT to Office app on your Android or iOS device and pair the app with this add-in by scanning a QR code. Now the data transfer works on its own, within fractions of a second Scan-IT to Office forwards remotely captured data line by line to all paired Word documents or Excel spreadsheets.
Scan-IT to Office provides maximum data security and data protection. Collected data is transferred using end-to-end encryption; your data is exclusively stored on your personal devices. The Scan-IT to Office solution works with and without Internet connectivity: when offline, the mobile device caches captured data until Internet connectivity is available again.
This add-in is free of charge. To benefit from it, you also need the Scan-IT to Office app for your mobile device. The app installs as free trial that replaces collected data at random intervals and/or displays a notification. For unrestricted use, we kindly ask you to purchase a subscription for the app. Please contact

My local post office refuses to do acceptance scans because of how busy things are getting. They tell me to leave them sit in a bin, which is how they do it. You take your mail there, you throw it in the package bin, they are supposed to scan it at a certain time every day, and everyone is happy.
Well recently Ebay in their typical everything is the sellers fault mentality started punishing me with late shipments, even though one of the shipments is on time, because the post office isn't scanning them right.
According to the wise men behind Ebay, the post office is back to normal and there are no more problems. I find this odd because in the last 2 weeks alone I've had more problems with the post office than I had ever had before. I really wonder where the wise men at Ebay get their information from.
As pickermall stated, you need to bring your packages to the counter and explain your business dilemma. I would advise keeping your distress in check and if you do not get a resolution, switch post offices.
eBay is wrong; the USPS is not back to normal unless they mean that not scanning all packages like they should; not updating tracking information and many packages arriving late or not at all is "normal" for the USPS. Merely saying things are back to normal does not change reality.
I have not had a postal employee to tell me to leave my packages in a bin because they are too busy to scan them and will scan them later. Some people choose to just drop off their packages without making sure the packages are scanned and getting a receipt. I choose to stand in line and make sure my packages get scanned and get a receipt. If you just leave your package(s) without getting a receipt you have no proof that you shipped the package; the only thing a pre-paid label shows is that you printed a label.
Some times when I'm out and about and I'm in a nearby smaller town or city I ship my packages from those post office because they appear to be operating normally with no problems. However, I don't drive miles just to ship my packages from those post offices, I just use them when I happen to be in those nearby smaller towns or cities.
I have been dealing with the same problem ever since I started up my eBay account (mid-may this year). I live in a ultra-urban area, and our post office is certainly not back up to normal. I've found that they normally sit on a package for 1-2 days before they actually ship it out.
The way to get around this, and avoid eBay penalizing you, is to set your handling time to 3 days. That way you have a little wiggle room in case the post office is being slow. Its a bit of a bummer though, because even though I should qualify for the "Fast N Free" designation (I ship out either same or next day), I can't, due to the handling time.
People are People and we come in all types, as we see on the boards and in personal dealings. I do not think saying what you want is the best idea when the people working there will be handling your merchandise. It is much better to go armed with facts and concern and stand your ground, or find another post office to ship from.
