I have been practising with Psych-K for about 1 year now - overall it
has been an invaluable tool.

One of the areas I get stuck in is that frequently I balance for a new
positive belief and I test strong, and yet I also test for the
negative old belief and I test strong for it too.
e.g. - "I am full of energy." "I am fatigued."
"I accept my anger." "I reject my anger."
"I am eternal." "I am mortal."
I am puzzled by this. I wonder what the theory of psych-k says about
this? My understanding is that it is presumed that new beliefs
override and erase old beliefs, but that specificity is key in that
the new belief needs to be directly opposing, not just 'in the
ballmark'. But it seems I am doing this, e.g. with the above.
To me this feels like inner conflictedness, part of me believing one
thing, part of me believing the opposite.
I wonder what to do. I think maybe I could use an 'erase technique/
practise' like Emotion Freedom Technique on the old belief. However,
this is a lot of extra time and energy too. I wonder if there is
something more obvious I am missing.

Any feedback on this?
I am especially intrigued to hear from others who have experimented
with testing both their new and the old beliefs.

Thanks!

Hi Bradley,

Your email says you've been practicing Psych-K for about 1 year, and just wondering if you have done any of the advance Psych-K such as core belief balances?

Very common to test both weak and strong  and to have these conflicting beliefs. Core belief balances work for this so just asking the obvious first.

Hi, Bradley,
What about

"Every part of me is ready. willing, & able to be filled with energy."

"I am consistently filled with energy that I use to accomplish my goals."

"I accept my anger & then release it easily & quickly now."

"My body is mortal & my spirit eternal."

It seems that some of your examples stated 2 truths. "I am filled with
energy & feel fatigued." You can be both at the same time.
You can accept your anger & then choose to release it. Accepting where you
are eliminates internal conflict. Choosing to change your feelings is
empowering.
I don't know if I understood where you were coming from but hope I
reframed it for you.
Good luck,
Jeanne

Hi Bradley,

I'll share my personal experience of working with conflicting beliefs
and it may help.

As Rita said, we work with conflicting beliefs at the Advanced
Integration workshop and I'm not sure if you have taken that workshop
yet.

I'll do my best to explain what I do when I identify conflicting
beliefs:

Firstly:- If I test strong for a supporting belief but feel that my
life isn't reflecting that belief, I check in with myself to see if I
have any secondary gain - is there more benefit for me to not be
manifesting the belief/goal/experience? (I'm currently working on this
with chocolate ;-)!!!) I have balanced for saying no to chocolate, to
stop eating it etc but I still choose to eat it a bit too frequently
for my liking!! I know I'm getting more benefit from eating chocolate
than not and I'm looking at what I gain from this behaviour and how
this gain is benefitting me more than cutting down on my chocolate
intake or stopping eating it full stop.

Secondly:- I look at what action I'm not taking, that I need to take
to manifest the outcome of my beliefs. I've balanced for cutting down
on chocolate, but I'm not taking action on my beliefs - I'm still
buying it and eating it. I decide what action I want to take and then
balance for that - a new belief might be to walk straight past the
chocolate section in a shop (just rough examples here).

Thirdly, if I'm still continuing with my behavior after doing the
above. I begin to test conflicting beliefs e.g. 'Stopping eating
chocolate is the easiest thing in the world for me to do' and
'stopping eating chocolate is really hard for me to do'. It's a push/
pull situation.
What I do in this case (and it's just a personal thing and may work
for you), is to go through the normal Balance process holding in mind
that I'm going to balance the supporting belief even though it's
testing strong.
I get Permission and Commitment to balance the supporting belief and
then follow the protocol for whichever Balance comes up at step 3c.
For example, if it's the New Direction Balance I say the supporting
belief silently until I experience a mental, emotional or physical
shift of the old resistance to the new belief etc. My intention is
that I'm giving more energy to the supporting belief and that it will
override the limiting belief. Then, at the end of the process, I test
both the supporting belief and the limiting belief. 9.999% of the time
the supporting belief will still test strong and it will have more
meaning for me and the limiting belief will test weak. If not, I give
some time for integration and then go back and test again. Then, I do
the most important part of the process, I celebrate :-)

I hope this makes sense. Do feel free to come back to me for
clarification. I have used this with some clients who test strong for
a belief and say that it doesn't make sense. We test the opposite
limiting belief and more often than not, it also tests strong and
makes complete sense to the person about the experiences they are
having in relation to what they are trying to shift.

Much love
Cazzie

Good morning.
Just a quick note to introduce the possibility that there is another component
to the whole notion of muscle testing.  It has been my experience that the mortal
ego is powerfully driven to NOT let us move out of our current experience and
regain control of our minds and experiences.  There is a lot of information regarding
this idea in The Course in Miracles, difficult reading at best I know, but does
lay out some radical ideas about the ego. I don't have any real help for this, I work
with it regularly and find that ego is smart and sneaky and it's possible that the only
real help is to so strengthen ourselves spiritually that ego falls away from lack of
energy to feed on.  Just a thought.
