cluster network question

Our lab has begun investigating parallelizing an SVM based image
segmentation algorithm and I've been looking what has been done in
that area. At the moment I have one specific question: the tests you
ran for your paper were run on a cluster with what kind of network?
Or another way to say it, given a similar number of similar machines
on a 1Gb network, the available bandwidth is not the limiting factor
and performance like you published could be expected.
