Just some few words to inform you that I've added a (very) preliminary
test suite to the current code tree.
I hope that you guys are ok with using the standard unittest.
Since the only platform currently having a full implemented API is
Linux the tests won't pass on all other platforms.

Unittest works for me...we can worry about the other platforms passing a bit later but thanks for putting this together, always good to have test suites.
