SUMMARY OF POSITIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Chair

The Chair holds the most authority in the Executive Committee, aside
from the Faculty Advisors.  Large decisions should be approved by the
Chair, and the person holding this position is generally responsible
for organizing and maintaining the entire Executive Committee and PSU
AES section.  The Chair has the authority and obligation to delegate
responsibilities to other Executive Officers, and has the ability to
assume responsibilities not met by others.  Consultation with Faculty
Advisors is strongly recommended.

------

Vice Chair

The Vice Chair position is essentially similar to the Chair, except
that the level of responsibility and authority is generally
secondary.  The Vice Chair is responsible for assisting the Chair and
for assuming any obligations not met by the Chair.  Generally, the
Chair and Vice Chair work together to manage the section.

------

Treasurer

The treasurer holds all financial responsibilty for the section.
 This
includes the acquisition and managing of section funds,
purchasing of
refreshments for meetings, accomodations for visiting
guests, section
purchases, event costs, overseeing of section
equipment and
belongings, and any other financial duty associated
with the section.
Budget management is posted in a Google Doc for
other Executive
Officers to view.

------

Corporate Relations

The Corporate Relations position is responsible for recruiting
presenters, whether they are corporate representatives or individual
speakers.  All correspondance with past, upcoming, and invited
presenters is generally the responsibilty of Corporate Relations,
although the entire Executive Committee should assist in preparing
events and presentations.  Corporate Relations should consult with
members and refer to past events to determine the most appropriate
presenters to invite.

------

Publicity

The Publicity position is generally responsible for section
publicity,
including meeting and event announcements, flier
distribution, and new
member recruitment.

------

Webmaster

The Webmaster is responsible for updating, maintaining, and improving
the Club Website (http://www.clubs.psu.edu/up/aes) and Google
Resources.

------

Project Coordinator

The Project Coordinator is responsible for organizing and overseeing
club projects, whether they are long-term projects completed by a
small team, or smaller more frequent projects appropriate for larger
numbers of people.  Generally, both types of projects are desirable,
and the Project Coordinator should consult with members to determine
appropriate projects.

Is there anyone in particular who has been setting up the
presentations this year? I'd like to ask them for any suggestions and
also exactly what they've been doing in actually succeeding in getting
companies to come here. I know that it's not exactly easy to get a
corporate rep to come speak to students. Thanks!

Me, Scott, and the faculty advisors have handled all the presentation
scheduling this year, so having a dedicated Corporate Relations
position should really help distribute responsibility more fairly.

As Chair, I've been doing my best to change the club for the better
(foster a more social audio community, expand beyond grad ACS -
especially into Elec Engr, and also introduce a host of online
resources), so I'm sticking around next year to help continue and
maintain that change.

I'm running for the Webmaster position since I won't have time for the
responsibility of Chair, and also because there's a lot of web-related
work that needs to be done to solidify what I've created for the club
and make sure it's maintained after I leave. So, essentially what I'm
saying is that I will be sticking around not only to be Webmaster, but
also to offer guidance for the other Committee members. The biggest
thing the Committee needs is dedicated members and efficient
delegation and distribution of responsibilities.

I have a very clear sense of direction for the club, and I've been
trying to move it in that direction my entire term. I think it'll be
a really good thing to get others involved to hopefully assist towards
that goal, but ultimately the section will go wherever the Committee
and member-base wants it to go.

So, I'd like to think that I've sort of started up the engine and got
the change going, and I'd like to be there to make sure that engine
doesn't stall next year, know what I mean? As for the steering wheel,
well, we can all sort of grab hold and hang on for the ride.

Just a reminder to everyone that the deadline to run and vote is May
2, the last day of classes!
